Meet The Team: Christie Rodrigues

With new partnerships and continuous growth, Launchpad is expected to soar to new heights over the next 6 months.

Christie was able to fit us into her busy schedule to have a quick interview about Launchpad. The future’s looking bright, so let’s get right into it.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

This is an extremely hard question to answer as I never really know what my day will look like until I walk through the door. The most important part of my day and role is supporting my people. The staff, our partners, recruits, all of them. I feel so honored to be a small part of these people’s lives, their developmental path and journey. I take this very seriously and I want to ensure that they are are all going in the right direction and that they have an exceptional experience. I understand that this journey isn’t always easy, it can actually be scary, and I know for a fact that it’s a lot of hard work, but it’s in these times I don’t allow them to give up either. It’s my job to give them an environment that allows them to try, be brave, pursue their dreams and embrace something they’re passionate about. I love the days when I get to share these stories! To get people talking and excited about the tech industry, maybe even get them inspired and motivated to start their own journey.

What do you like about a Launchpad?

Tech has always been an important role within the structure of an organization, but I think we can all agree that there has been a significant shift within tech, especially over the last year. We’ve recognized that in order for organizations to maintain and sustain their businesses, they’ve reviewed their business models and moved towards a platform that’s virtual and at people’s fingertips. With that, these very platforms need strong people to support them. Companies need employees that can transition into these roles with minimal downtime. I like the fact that LaunchPad is building these people, supporting and guiding them to confidently take on these roles and reach the demands of the labour market today.

What excites you about Launchpad/Vog?

Everything! I can honestly say that I love getting out of bed every morning, excited about what the day will bring! I am surrounded by some of the smartest people I have ever met in my entire career! There’s also something special about the “culture” here. I didn’t realize until now that culture is also something that you can feel. Tech is exciting, constantly changing, moving, it’s so alive and truly has an energy and pulse of its own! I’m looking forward to the day that we can actually bring everyone together again under one roof.

It’s nice to see that this energy and excitement is also flowing into LaunchPad. Over the last few months there has been a large focus on really getting Launchpad off the ground. Partnerships are being announced, new partnerships are being established which is allowing the LP group to make some significant leeway and obtain some traction.

Our second cohort has actually just finished, our third has already started and we’re already registering for local talent in the fall. We’ve also really excited about starting a virtual training platform in June for a group in Botswana, which will be around 50 students to start.

It’s exciting to be here! We’re learning and growing all at the same time!
